    Archer 8: TP-Link’s Real-World Wi-Fi 8 Breakthrough

Irvine, California — May 28, 2026 — TP-Link Systems Inc., a global provider of consumer networking solutions, today announced Archer 8, the company’s first router platform based on the emerging Wi-Fi 8 (IEEE 802.11bn) standard. Scheduled for launch in October 2026, Archer 8 represents TP-Link’s next step toward delivering more stable, lower-latency connectivity designed for dense and demanding home environments.

As connected devices continue to increase in households, TP-Link believes the next generation of Wi-Fi must move beyond peak theoretical speeds and focus on more stable and predictable performance. Archer 8 is designed to address common frustrations, including inconsistent speeds across the entire home, even under demanding conditions such as unstable mesh roaming, and latency spikes during gaming, video calls, and streaming.

“Wi-Fi has always been benchmarked by peak theoretical throughput, but that is not how networks behave in real homes," said PJ Li, President of Product, TP-Link Systems Inc. "Archer 8 was engineered for the conditions users actually live with: many devices on the network, interference from everyday wireless devices, walls and floors between the router and the user. The result is lower latency, stronger performance under interference, and connectivity that holds across the entire home."

Practical performance improvements of Wi-Fi 8

TP-Link conducted controlled internal lab testing comparing early Wi-Fi 8 implementations against Wi-Fi 7 under simulated real-world home conditions. The results demonstrate one of the clearest examples yet of how Wi-Fi 8 is designed to improve actual user experience beyond theoretical peak speeds*.

    Key results include:

    • Up to 33% higher throughput at comparable distances, maintaining performance further from the router

    • Up to 24% improved consistency when signal quality varies across spatial streams

    • Up to 15% better performance in multi-access-point environments with high interference

    • Up to 30% improvement in multi-floor homes for single-device connections, and 10–20% improvement in multi-device environments through TP-Link’s advanced antenna architecture and AI-assisted optimization

    • A 1–3 dB improvement in receiver sensitivity on both 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands for stronger and more reliable coverage throughout the home

Together, these improvements are designed to reduce major speed drops, improve multi-device stability, strengthen mesh performance, and maintain lower latency under challenging network conditions.

    The Design Behind Archer 8

With a minimalist design, Archer 8 seamlessly blends refined aesthetics with performance-driven engineering. By integrating advanced antenna architecture, RF optimization, and AI-powered network intelligence, it delivers reliable, stable performance across a wide variety of home environments.

    A Full Wi-Fi 8 Portfolio

Archer 8 is the first step in a broader Wi-Fi 8 portfolio from TP-Link, aimed at supporting different networking needs.

    Planned lineup and availability includes:

    • Archer 8 (Router) — October 2026

    • Deco 8 (Mesh System) — Q1 2027

    • Roam 8 (Travel Router) — Q2 2027

    • Extenders and Adapters — Q2 2027

The portfolio delivers consistent, high-quality connectivity across a wide range of environments, from apartments to larger multi-floor homes.

Availability and final product specifications will be announced closer to launch.
